Turn your
senses on

Flip the switch to come in

YES:GAMSO:ON
SENSORY ARTS LAB · HANAM, SOUTH KOREA

We were all
artists to begin with.

No credentials required. What we do is gently wake the senses that fell asleep along the way — turning the light back on, one small switch at a time, together.

MANIFESTO

How many things did you feel today?

A gust of wind, a passing scent, something your fingertips brushed against. They were right there beside you — and most days, we let them slip by unnoticed.

Nobody switches their senses
off on purpose.

It's just that the small choices we make to get through the day set them down, one by one.

The morning a cold blocked your nose and your favourite soup tasted like warm water. The evening you ate in front of a screen and couldn't recall a single flavour afterwards. We tend to notice things only once they're gone.

And the senses that stay awake differ from person to person. Some of us answer first to sound, some to colour, some to what the hands touch. Noticing which senses are sharp in you and which have gone quiet — that is where knowing yourself begins.

To feel alive is to have your senses alive. So we study how to wake the senses of ordinary life. Not through anything grand — through small, everyday experiences.

It doesn't have to be impressive. You don't have to be good at it. Enjoying the process is more than enough.

The moment “it was nice, I guess” turns into “cooled wind, the smell of grass, a grey sky” — an ordinary day turns strange again, and starts coming back to life.
SENSES

It starts with five dots

There are five fruits on our tree — the five senses everyone knows. That’s the door we walk in through.

Sightthe first colour
you saw today
Hearingone sound
that stayed
Smella scent that
caught you
Tastethe best thing
you tasted
Touchwhat your
fingertips recall
And morethe ones school
never taught

But there aren’t just five. The ‘five senses’ is a classification more than two thousand years old — the body has senses school never taught us. The one that finds your nose with your eyes closed. The one that knows your heart is beating without a finger on your wrist. The one that keeps you upright. Nothing mystical — real senses, inside the body. The feeling of being alive comes, in fact, from these inner senses. We start from the five dots, and wake what sleeps beneath them.

SenseHappinessExpression

Art begins with waking the senses. When seeing, touching and feeling come back to life, we find ourselves again. And happiness isn't something newly made — it's a memory rediscovered through the senses.

WORK WITH US

Where we can work together

It isn't about making something finished. It's half a day in which everyone gathers their own senses.
Companies, institutions, brands, small circles — we shape the programme around your purpose and your size.

WORKSHOP

Sensory Creation Workshop

Whether it's an organisation or a handful of friends — half a day to stop, collect your own senses, and see each other a little differently.

Good for — team offsites · retreats · schools & libraries · wellbeing programmes

POP-UP

Sensory Pop-up & Installation

A participatory booth that quietly catches the senses of passers-by. We build it to the grain of your space, so people feel your message with the body rather than the head.

Good for — pop-up stores · exhibitions · fairs · festivals · brand campaigns

COLLABORATION

Collaboration

Work that doesn't end with a single event. From co-designing a programme to sensory goods, content and research — made together over time.

Good for — brand partnerships · co-created programmes · product & content · research · living labs

WORLDWIDE We're based in Hanam, South Korea — and we'll travel to wherever people want this. Programmes can run in Korean or English.
No formal brief needed.
One line — “we'd love to do something like this” — is enough to begin.

LAYERS

Projects, stacked one layer at a time

Places we've passed through. A project doesn't disappear when it ends — it settles as another layer, and together they become who we are.

「Kkabulgo」 Season 1 · Feeling the Season

Three small expeditions with people in their 30s–40s in Hanam. Each one walks the same path — first you find what is yours, then it becomes ours: MY SENSE·OUR SENSE, MY COLOR·OUR COLOR, MY NAME·OUR NAME. Ten jars on one shelf, ten colours on one frame, ten names nobody had before. Archived as a series on Instagram in November. Selected by the Silhak Museum's Small Experiment grant.

I'm an Artist Too!

Where we first came together. Ten adults drew on stones; twenty primary-school children shaped themselves out of clay and cloth. “I'm no good at art” turned into quiet absorption, and the children left wearing the look of so I'm an artist too. Here we learned that adults and children have to recover together. Hosted by the Hanam Cultural Foundation.

ORIGIN

How we came together

We never set out to make grand art. Just a wish that happiness might come not from something enormous, but from feeling your way through an ordinary day. That's where YES:GAMSO started.

We hold down our own work, and we cross each day as somebody's mother and father too. Getting through what's given to us. Raising the children who came to us, even on the days parenting doesn't suit us at all. All of us, in our own way —

we've worked so hard just to keep living.

What does it mean to pat yourself on the back for that? People who had carried this question for a long time ended up in the same room. We know because we've been through it. What's needed isn't a grand consolation, but one switch turned on in today.

YES:GAMSO is a sensory arts recovery project — helping anyone discover the artist in themselves, by waking the senses and expressing them freely.
